Authorized Contacts

Helping Protect Vulnerable Adult Customers

At Bank of Wisconsin Dells, we care about the safety and well-being of all our customers, especially those who may be more vulnerable to financial exploitation. To provide added protection, we offer the option for a customer to designate Authorized Contacts.

What Is an Authorized Contact?

An Authorized Contact is a trusted person the customer chooses. If we ever have reasonable cause to believe that a vulnerable adult customer may be the victim or target of financial exploitation, we may reach out to someone on this list to help ensure the customer’s safety.

Being an Authorized Contact DOES NOT give someone:

  • Access to the account
  • Ownership or control of funds
  • Power of Attorney or legal authority

It simply gives the bank permission to contact a verified, trusted person if we are concerned about the customer’s financial well-being.

Who the Bank May Contact

If we suspect financial exploitation, we may contact:

  • Anyone the customer has listed as an Authorized Contact
  • A co-owner, authorized signer, or beneficiary on the account
  • A known family member such as a parent, spouse, adult child, or sibling

The bank will not contact someone if we believe that person may be involved in the exploitation.

Setting Up an Authorized Contact List

Customers can provide:

  • The contact person’s name
  • Their relationship to the customer
  • Phone number or other contact information

This list can be updated at any time by speaking with a Personal Banker at any BWD branch or by calling 608-253-1111.
